Lori Alexander Tries to Add to Scripture

In the past Lori Alexander has admonished those who she claims try to add or subtract to the bible. Yet in today’s post, Lori does just that.  She writes:

“Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear” (1 Peter 3:1, 2) Are these verses only for women who are married to unbelievers? Many believe this to be so, but I do not. Even Christian men can disobey the Word of God! The Apostle Paul could have easily written, “… that, if any are unbelievers…” since this word is used other places in the Bible.

Just because Paul COULD HAVE easily written doesn’t mean he did and in this case he certainly did not. Therefore, Lori is trying to add to scripture.  How would she like it if someone said Paul could have easily written that men are to submit to their wives since this word is used in other places in the bible?  Seriously, it makes perfect sense! She would hate that. In fact, that kind of reasoning will get you deleted and banned. Yet, Lori gets a pass on that kind of thinking.  It really is astounding that she thinks just because something “Could have easily been written” it then becomes part of the bible.

Lori goes on:

These verses apply to those who are married to believers and unbelievers. There is nowhere in Scripture that commands wives to try to convict and change their husbands. God is very specific on how wives are to respond to disobedient husbands.

Now she pulls out the “nowhere in scripture” card. Its funny because just a paragraph before she is implying that because something could be easily written it is part of scripture.  One could say Paul could have easily written 1 Peter 3 to husbands as well as wives based on her logic above and —poof—that must mean it makes it so. It doesn’t matter if its “nowhere in scripture” because all you have to do is imagine that it could have easily been written.

So for every time Lori retorts back to someone that what they are saying is “nowhere in scripture” one should feel free to respond with “it could have easily been written so that makes it so”.
